Fludis Emerges as France’s Leading Urban River Distribution Company
May 21st, 2025

[Press Release]
Fludis, Sogestran and the public investment company Ademe Investissement are joining forces to develop inner-city delivery via river transport.
Together, they become the French leader in urban river distribution, offering their clients a turnkey decarbonized multimodal transport solution, including last-mile delivery, under the Fludis brand.
Sogestran and ADEME Investissement become key minority shareholders of AMME SAS, better known under the Fludis brand
Through a capital increase of around ten million euros, the Sogestran group and ADEME Investissement acquire a 30% stake each in AMME SAS as key minority shareholders. They join the company’s historical shareholders, namely Banque des Territoires, Groupe Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, and GROUPE IDEC, who reaffirm their support, along with Gilles Manuelle, founder of Fludis and President of the new entity.
A single commercial brand: Fludis
The transaction includes the acquisition and merger by Fludis of the entity Blue Line Logistics (BLL) France, previously a subsidiary of the Sogestran group.
Fludis thus becomes the sole commercial brand and operator of the river urban logistics solutions of both structures, currently active in Île-de-France and Lyon, offering its services to numerous major clients (Colissimo, Ikea, Lyreco, Paprec, Suez, Amazon, Cafés Richard, OBD Grand Paris…).
Following the transaction, Fludis will have a fleet of 7 river vessels adapted to navigation and operation in urban areas, a fleet which will be expanded (1 unit is currently under construction). Fludis also has a fleet of cargo bikes for last-mile delivery.
Modal shift, the solution for decarbonized logistics in city centers
In light of the climate change challenge and the ongoing significant impact of transport on the carbon footprint of the French population, local authorities and professional sectors are mobilizing.
Cities are adopting increasingly ambitious regulatory tools (limited traffic zones, low emission zones, zero net land artificialization...), while freight operators are decarbonizing their vehicle fleets and reorganizing transport and last-mile delivery in urban areas.
Using river transport for inner-city deliveries means:
- Reducing environmental impact through freight consolidation;
- Acting for the common good by easing road congestion: less traffic, less noise, fewer accidents, less infrastructure wear.
Gilles Manuelle, founder and President of Fludis
“We are proud to bring this fundraising to fruition. This milestone allows Fludis to reach a strategic stage in its growth and development. Strengthening our solutions, tools, and teams consolidates our role as a leader in the urban river logistics market, while remaining true to our values. We are pleased to be supported by the European leader in river freight and by a major French institutional investor in ecological transition projects.”
Pierre Cossart, Managing Director of Sogestran Logistics
“We are delighted to contribute to the creation of a leader in urban river distribution. By capitalizing on the expertise of our subsidiary BLL France and becoming a key shareholder in this new entity, Sogestran reaffirms its commitment and desire to promote sustainable growth for decarbonized logistics in the heart of cities.”
Karine Mérère, Managing Director of Ademe Investissement
“This investment in Fludis embodies Ademe Investissement’s commitment to concrete decarbonization solutions. By combining river transport and cargo bike delivery, Fludis offers an innovative logistics model that directly addresses the challenge of reducing emissions in city centers. We are proud to support this company that demonstrates it is possible to combine operational performance with positive environmental impact, in service of more resilient cities.”
Richard Curnier, Regional Director Île-de-France at Banque des Territoires
“Banque des Territoires has made decarbonized mobility one of the cornerstones of its action in the regions. That is why we are pleased to welcome new investors alongside us and Idec, who will enable continued development of Fludis, which we have supported since its creation.”
Lionel Mary, Managing Director of Groupe Idec Invest
“Since our investment in Fludis in 2019, we have been convinced that last-mile river logistics is an important lever for decarbonizing goods transport in urban areas. This fully aligns with the DNA of our Groupe Idec Invest Innovation fund, which focuses on innovative low-carbon solutions. In addition to this fundraising, we are pleased to strengthen our commitment to Fludis and to offer them in the coming months a new unloading quay on the waterfront in Boulogne-Billancourt to accommodate a warehouse barge.”
